Yes, You Do Have Time
TIME is a funny thing and we often look at those that are successful and think, “Yeah, I could be like Oprah, or Martha Stewart or Sheryl Sandberg, or somebody else that has reached that pinnacle of success if only I had the 50 staffers that handle all that yucky stuff I don’t have time to handle?” And I bet that at least five times a day you either say or at least think, I don’t have time to do something, or I wish I could just clone myself. Now I’m not suggesting you aren’t busy, because as an entrepreneur, there is no doubt you are busy, but what are you busy at is the question. This quote, that I think is from H. Jackson Brown Jr., (whomever he is) really drives home the point; we really do have time, we just might not be prioritizing it appropriately.
“Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.”
So take a few minutes to really think about this. What is your excuse? What were they doing that you are not? What are you choosing to do with your time? (some good things, [like writing this post] and then ummmm FB, House of Cards, the internet rabbit hole, yes, I’m guilty)
Don’t put your dreams or goals on hold because of the excuse, “I don’t have time.” If you want to start a business, exercise, spend more time with your friends or family, go to school, take up a hobby; remember, we each have 24 hours, 1,440 minutes, every single day that we are alive. Use it wisely. My recommendation based on what I feel makes me most productive and be happy is to figure out the ten most important things to do in a day, and at least two of those include “do something or take time” for myself, and the other is to “take time to do something” for someone else. This can be as simple as a smile or a giant hello. The rest can wait.
If you want to read some good points on what someone else has to say on the subject of productivity, check out this link, 8 things productive people do and then lastly, you might take the time to read the book that tons of people have told me to read, but I still haven’t found the time (until now, and I swear I’m going to read it in APRIL and I will report back) is the “The Four Hour Workweek.”
Good Luck, and er, thanks for taking the time to read my post!
