In 1984, Geraldine Ferraro became the first woman nominated for national office by a major party for the office of Vice-President for the Democratic Party with Walter F. Mondale vying for the role of President. The campaign was not successful, but Geraldine will always be known as a trailblazer, creating a path for other women to follow suit and succeed in more ways than one. She proved the point that you can have a great impact, even in failure.
