Partners In Crime or Punishment
Is it a partner in “crime?” (just kidding, that is said to mean, in cahoots, fun) or a partner in “punishment”, which is a horse of a different color and can cause heartbreak, financial ruin, or both! We may take on partners for life, business or just a project. For whatever reason you choose someone as a partner, it is important to think about how that relationship is going to play out in the future. When you partner with someone, it can be amazing and bring out the best in both of you. It can also take a toll on you and really bite. So next time you decide to partner, remove the emotion and take a good look at it from purely a business standpoint. What are the things you love about them? How will they contribute to the conversation. the business, the project? Next take a good look at the things you find less desirable. Is that a deal breaker? Will it impact your business in a negative way. Is there communication that can bring about changes? Being truthful and honest with yourself will help you to make the best decision and get the most out of the business relationship.
