The Super Bowl

I’m not the biggest football fan, but the Super Bowl has lots to offer if you want a good demonstration of strategy, perseverance, planning, and determination in action. And of course the commercials are always highly anticipated, as are the extravagant half-time shows, and if you are lucky, you may see history being made with an extraordinary pass or what some might call a miracle. You can learn a lot from watching the Super Bowl and last night was no exception!

It was a good game. Both teams were beyond talented and from my seat on the couch, either team could take the trophy! It wasn’t a run-away game by any means and on more than one occasion, the impossible seemed to happen. But it all came down to those last few minutes when the Sea Hawks caught a lucky break and ball that should have hit the ground ended up in the hands of a Sea Hawk, right there at the 2 yard line (ok, I don’t remember exactly) but it was close! So close that the Sea Hawks were poised to win with their touchdown that they were sure to make. It is like having a golf ball hanging on the lip of a hole. You can’t mess it up, right?, but can you? Yes you can, if you are the Sea Hawks and make a BIG mistake. Here’s the deal. When things are going your way, you play it safe. You stay focused. You rely on a proven game plan. It’s not a time to get cute or take risks. Not if you want to win. But the Sea Hawks didn’t play it safe. They threw the ball and Butler of the Patriots caught it. and in the end, the Sea Hawks lost. There is a time for risks and time for not. This was one of those times.
